Ballybay Town paid tribute to the memories of 1916
The weekend of Friday 10th - Sunday 12th of June, 2016, Ballybay Town paid tribute to the memories of 1916. Starting on Friday night the play "Pull Down a Horseman " written by Eugene McCabe in 1966 was performed by Jim Cleary ( James Connolly) , Brian O Harte ( Padraig Pearse ) and directed by Harry Cleary at the Pearse Brothers Club Rooms.
On Saturday, a street drama "Two Paths To One Place" was performed to the fantastic backdrop of the Market House. Local man Aiden Mc Quillan was responsible for the production and directing of this superb drama. The street drama followed a parade of the youth in which young people from local GAA clubs marched from the Castleblayney Road to the Market House. The evening ended with the reading of the Proclamation, excellently read by pupils from St Eannas National School and the raising of our National Fag by Eamom Gorman former Battalion Quatermaster in the FCA.
