The A.G.M of Ballybay/Derryvalley Bowls Club took place recently, and was attended by 10 different clubs which shows the eagerness of members to get back on the green for the Summer months. Chairman Brendan welcomed all present and the secretary and treasurer gave their reports. Next was the election of officers. President: Malachy McSkeane, Chairman: Brendan Magennis, Secretary: Gabriel Martin, Assistant Secretary: M.J.O’Connor, Treasurer: Dolores McMahon, Assistant Treasurer: Eveyln Toner. Selectors; Seamus Winters, George Berry, Malachy McSkeane and Brian toner. Som times two wrongs don’t make a right, but you have to feel sorry for Brendan McGahey who on the night nominated himself for Chairman but lost out then he decided to go for the secretary but also lost out and when he was nominated for the PRO he turned it down. Never mind Brendan sure there’s always next year.
Our first game in the Cross Border League is away to Clogher Valley on the 30th of April so it is important to get in some practice . With the long evenings and sun shining there can be no excuse. Selectors will be keeping an eye out for up and coming bowlers as places are up for grabs on the team. We hope to get the trips competition up and running shortly. Please get your entries in ASAP to avoid disappointment. We would be delighted to see some new members come and try it out. The green will be open every evening from 7 and bowls will be available for newcomers to have a go. Remember our Motto Don’t Blow it before you throw it !You never know this could be your hidden talent. Looking forward to seeing you all on the green and hopefully this glorious weather will stay with us for a while.
We all send our best wishes to our club member Brian Kingham from the Muckno club and wish him a speedy recovery and we hope to see Brian back out and about before the Summer. Brian and his team are the current Rinks champions within the club so it would be nice to see you back to defend your title
