Ballybay Pearse Brothers have bowed out of this year’s championship at the hands of Clontibret at the semi-final stage. Ballybay started without the injured Dessie Ward and Drew Wylie and lost Shane Mc Guinness to injury early on. Despite this Christopher Mc Guinness netted a first half penalty which helped Ballybay to a single point, half time lead. In the second half Ballybay simply ran out of steam, with the exertions of last week’s extra time catching up with a number of players. This is something the county board need to look at as such an important game was played between a fresh team who had no action for 3 weeks and a team who played over eighty minutes at full tilt just seven days ago. Full time score Ballybay 1-9 Clontibret 0-14. All is not lost as the lads have reached the senior league final against Scotstown. Lots more details and pictures on the sports pages.
