CAHANS HOSTS AIRS AND PRAISES

The historic Cahans Meeting House played host to a live version of the popular Sunday evening Northern Sound Radio show: Airs and Praises, on Friday 20 September last.  The event, as always, was produced and presented by the Revd Jean Mackarel, Minister of the PCI Group of Churches since 1984 and who has been a familiar voice on local radio for 33 years.  Jean on piano, was accompanied by soloist, Michael Lawson, he of Voice of Ireland winner 2016. They were complemented by Manuel Mackarel and Dylan Conway on bass and drums, and piano instrumentals. Roy Crowe led the congregational singing.

The programme consisted of Bible readings, and much-loved hymns and songs, both old and new. It was an evening of quiet inspiration and easy listening and was followed by tea and light refreshments.

Cahans Meeting House is a cross-community arts and cultural centre, outside Ballybay, near Stranooden. Eircode: H18 E7N1. The next event, Friday 18 October, is the showing of a flax growing film, along with harvest songs by traditional Monaghan music group, The Forge Anvils.  There will be a harvest supper afterwards.  Come along if you can, for an evening that promises nostalgia and enjoyable entertainment.

There will be unique Cahans Meeting House Christmas cards available this year. If interested contact David Nesbitt.
