The Pearse Brothers Annual General Meeting was held in the Clubhouse last Friday evening. It was well attended and the various reports were well received.
Outgoing Chairperson, Barry McSkean did not seek re-election and his successor is his former teammate and popular local businessman, Darren Smyth. Darren was a main stay in the Ballybay sides of the mid 90’s to the late 00’s. He won Junior and Intermediate Championships with the club and his taking the Chair position means that there will be another “Sharp Dressed Man” heading the club!
Rory McAtavie will be Vice Chair. Brian Carroll and Teresa McEntee will continue their fine work as Treasurer and Secretary respectively.
When Barry McSkean took the Chairperson’s role in late 2019, he couldn’t have foreseen the 2 tumultuous years that Covid have brought. This was made even harder when Barry’s job took him overseas which made his position as Chair even harder. Yet Barry managed to keep on top of things with Zoom calls and during his frequent visits home, the cub was his first concern. It was a great effort on his part against mounting obstacles. Many thanks Barry.
Sympathy: The club would like to extend its condolences to Shane Farrelly and his family for the sad passing of his wife Emer. May she rest in the peace she deserves.
