CANCER SOCIETY BENEFITS FROM NUMEROUS DONATIONS

Ballybay Cancer Society benefited from a number of recent donations. Siobhan and Sarah Mc Kenna from the Monaghan Wild Water Swimmers organised 12 open water swims in December. The group have been swimming in Lough Major for 3 years and wanted to give something back to the community. The group actually did 17 swims and raised the fantastic amount of €6410. The organiser would like to thank everyone who donated to their swims including Christchurch who donated their Christmas gate collection.

Further donations were received from Francis Wilson, the Tate Family, Rockcorry and the Mulligans from Drumhowan. Speaking to the Northern Standard Sally McAviney from the Ballybay Cancer Society said, "The society would are delighted to receive a number of recent donations from various fundraisers held in our name. Thanks to the Wild Water Swimmers who braves the various cold waters throughout the county. Thanks also to Francis Wilson who held an 80th Birthday party in Pat O Briens and asked for donations to us in leu of presents. The Tate family (Anthony, Ava, Fionn and Patrick) kept the memory of a wife and mother alive by organising a walk/run in Dartrey Forest in aid of Elaine. And family thanks to Charlie and Marion Mulligan who held a dance and dancing lessons in Drumhowan Community Centre and donated to us afterwards. We couldn't do the work we do without the help of the local community so as we enter 2023 a massive thanks to everyone who helped us in 2022".
