Next at Cahans Meeting House, an evening with a difference on Friday 19 January 2024 at 8pm, an evening with the Revd Dr Gerry Clinton, Ballybay who will share valuable insights into the unique aspects of rural mental health, the challenges that may face people and the strengths to be found in rural communities.
Before he was ordained a Presbyterian minister and installed in the Ballybay group of congregations Gerry was a psychiatric nurse and lecturer in psychiatric nursing, teaching in Dublin City University. He is a Registered Psychiatric Nurse and Registered Nurse Tutor along with being minister in Ballybay.
These are his words: It’s a dark, dreary time of year, reminiscent of our dark, dreary seasons of life. Darkness and light seem woven together in the tapestry of life. Is it deluding ourselves to think that life can be light and joy always? Doesn’t even Christmas pass, giving way to bleak January? As the saying goes it’s better to light a candle than to curse the darkness . . . but what will the candle reveal?
