A brilliant night was had by all at our Quiz Night in Pat O’Brien’s last Friday night. With 25 tables participating, there was great competition in the air, but much greater than that was the craic. A big thanks to Stephen Duffy, who was a professional as always at his Quizmaster role, and to the Brennan’s for correcting and keeping scores. Congratulations to the Quinn team of Mary, Eimear and Tara Quinn and Peter Deery, who took home the 1st prize sponsored by Action Adhesives with their whopping score of 89/100.
After round 8, everyone was up and moving in a game of heads and tails. Plenty of laughs were had in this game but Frankie Smyth had the biggest smile of all at the end when she won the €50 prize.
Well done to all of the raffle prize winners- Lorna Slevin who won a kindly sponsored voucher for Dooley’s Restaurant, Marie Hamill with a generous Top Oil voucher, and Leah Donaghy with a fabulous hamper sponsored by Drury’s Centra.
There were many more spot prizes won which had been donated by a number of very generous local businesses. On top of that, Gerry McElroy delivered food to keep the competitors from getting hungry and losing focus.
As a committee, we were totally overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of the businesses we approached about sponsorship and raffle prizes. Each quiz round had a number of sponsors and without the support of each business, our fundraiser wouldn’t have been the success that it was, so a massive thanks to each and every one. It’s the local businesses who support local clubs and causes, so it’s important that we do our bit to support these businesses back by shopping and spending within the community!
