Local man Thady McCarthy lost his wife Aoife, to cancer six years ago. On his 50th Birthday (May 25) he began an extraordinary journey — a 3,000km walk from Ballybay, Co. Monaghan to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. This walk is not just about distance; it is about purpose, remembrance, kindness, and giving back. Along the way, Thady’s goal is to support small charities and local causes that often struggle for funding but make a huge difference in people’s lives. Every cent donated through this fundraiser will go directly to helping those charities. Thady is personally covering the costs of his journey. As part of this journey, he will also be creating handmade bespoke 3D ornaments and wooden benches, which will be available to purchase. Thady will be documenting his journey along the way, and if you would like to follow his progress, stories, and experiences, you can follow him on Instagram: @aoife.acts.of.kindness. Facebook: Aoife’s Acts of Kindness. Youtube: Have you met Ted the Irish guy? The journey is expected to take approximately three months to complete. Thady has also set up a gofundme page and to date has raised over €6000. If you would like to contribute, then go to https://www.gofundme.com/en-ie and search for Aoife’s acts of kindness.
