It is with deep regret that we report the sad passing of Benny Smyth, Laragh, Ballybay and formerly The Square, Ballybay. Benny passed away peacefully at St. James Hospital; Dublin on Saturday last. He will be sadly missed by his wife Cora, sons Kevin, Darren and Fergal, their wife’s, his six grandchildren, sister Susan and his extended family and friends.
Benny was a businessman in the town for many years and away from work he relaxed playing bowls. He was instrumental in the establishment of an outdoor bowling green in the Town Park. Benny will be sorely missed by all in Ballybay and further afield who knew him.
Benny funeral mass was held in St. Patrick’s on Tuesday and he was laid rest in the adjoining Cemetery afterwards. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
